Job Title: Programme Officer (Governance, Peace and Security)
Reports to: Head of Programmes
Location: FCT-Abuja / Field Offices in and outside Nigeria
Job Type: Full-time


Job Summary


The Programme Officer will facilitate the planning, coordination, and implementation of
programmes and projects focused on governance, peace, and security. This includes working
closely with stakeholders to promote youth and women’s empowerment and gender inclusion in
these areas. The role also requires high-level capacity and experience in programme
conceptualisation, design, and implementation, including technical and administrative delivery.

Key Roles and Responsibilities


1. Research and Publication: Lead the promotion and coordination of scientific research and
publications.
2. Programme Implementation: Oversee the implementation of programme activities, including
planning, budgeting, and coordination with stakeholders.
3. Technical Support: Provide technical support to programme staff, partners, and beneficiaries,
including training and mentoring.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of programme activities,
including data collection, analysis, knowledge management, adaptation, and reporting.
5. Partnership Development: Maintain partnerships with stakeholders across bilateral and
multilateral organisations, NGOs, and private sector companies.
6. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports, documents, and other materials to support
programme implementation and donor requirements.
7. Budgeting and Financial Management: Manage programme budgets, including tracking
expenses, supporting the preparation of financial reports, and ensuring compliance with donor
regulations.
8. Other Duties: Perform any other task(s) as may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications


1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international development or the
social sciences.
2. Experience: At least 4–5 years’ experience in programme management, implementation, and
coordination; or 3 years’ experience in the (I)NGO/development sector with a Master’s degree.
3. Skills:
Strong project/programme management and coordination skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise multiple tasks
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in innovative computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google
Suite
4. Language: Fluency in English. French and/or Portuguese is an added advantage.
5. Knowledge: Knowledge of programme management tools, such as the Logical Framework
Approach (LFA) or Results-Based Management (RBM).
